Buzzards Glory Balloon Rides
A hot air balloon ride lasts approximately one hour. Flights take place in the early morning around sunrise and in the late afternoon about two hours before sunset, subject to favorable weather conditions. Your ballooning adventure typically encompasses about two hours, inclusive of the launch, flight, recovery, and return to the launch field. We commence balloon inflation upon your arrival, a process that swiftly completes within ten to fifteen minutes, setting the stage for your serene ascent and the commencement of a mesmerizing journey.
Your flight trajectory is at the whim of the wind's direction, offering a personalized aerial tour that might glide you over lush tree lines, the urban expanse of Cedar Rapids, or the tranquil rural landscapes. It's a unique guided tour from the skies, tailored just for you.
Rides usually accommodate two passengers alongside the pilot, though arrangements for a third passenger are feasible depending on the combined weight, the passengers' size, and prevailing temperature conditions. The cost for a ride is $575, covering one or two passengers. For inquiries about a third passenger or other questions, we encourage reaching out to us via phone or email.
Restrictions are in place for the safety and comfort of all passengers. All participants must be at least 12 years of age, and expectant mothers are advised to partake in the celebration post-birth. Senior citizens in sound health may enjoy rides during calm weather conditions.
Tethered rides are offered at $1000 for the first hour, with each subsequent half-hour priced at $650, in addition to a $250 deposit that will be credited towards the final bill. Additional charges include a $1 per mile fee for services rendered beyond Linn County boundaries. Tethering, which involves securing the balloon with lengthy ropes, permits the balloon to rise and descend, enabling a series of brief rides.
Our pilots, proficient in the art and science of ballooning, are keen on sharing their knowledge with groups and organizations. With a three-decade history of engaging with local schools, our educational initiatives illuminate the fascinating world of ballooning.
